In Venda Nova do Imigrante, Brazil, a night of passion ended tragically. A man and a woman—26-year-old Marcone da Silva Cardoso and 42-year-old Adriana Machado Ribeiro—were parked near a scenic overlook. Around 1 a.m., their car started moving presumably due to them having sex. The vehicle slid down a wet hang-gliding ramp and plunged off a cliff.
Later that morning, a local caretaker found the wreck at the bottom of the steep drop. The couple were both naked.
“I saw the car’s engine very far away and the car fell, almost 150 meters from the accident,” said witness Tiago Amorim, according to CNN Brazil. “It was a shocking scene, the car was destroyed.”
There was no signs of violence; the handbrake was still on. Neighbors heard a loud noise early in the morning, but it was too dark to see what caused it.
An investigation is ongoing and forensic reports are pending.
Ribeiro was a mother of two; Cardoso had a 4-year-old son.
