The Illegal War with Iran is the Biggest Political Distraction

In spite of the war, Epstein’s shadow still looms large over Donald Trump.

For over a decade, Donald Trump has claimed that any Democratic president or presidential nominee will start a war and send our kids to Iran. He has run on the platform of peace 一 going so far as to start his own Board of Peace 一 only to bomb, attack, starve and covet at least eight countries across the continents, and spend six billion of tax payer dollars in needless military action.

The illegal war that this administration started early in the morning of February 28, 2025, without the consent of Congress came just days after former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave hours-long depositions on their past relations with the late disgraced financier and sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein.

Since then, Donald Trump (and Israel) has: declared war (without the approval of Congress, which is the only branch of our government that has the power to do so); killed Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in an early-morning bombing campaign; bombed and attempted to skirt responsibility for massacring a girls’ elementary school; sunk an Iranian warship off the coast of Sri Lanka and left its crew for dead despite our obligation to uphold maritime rules of engagement and the Geneva Conventions; and has continued to attack and sink Iranian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

In addition, the administration has repeatedly declined to provide a clear answer on the rare possibility of reinstating the draft if the war escalates beyond its current scope.

Now, some analysts have reported that the public’s interest in the Epstein Files has dropped dramatically as search metrics on platforms like Google show, according to Al Jazeera, because of our involvement in starting the conflict. This information alone, though, does not necessarily mean that domestic interest in the files has gone away, despite Trump’s absurd distraction efforts.

Activist groups, online movements and independent storytellers, as well as members of Congress, have not let up on the degree to which they speak out about the files and Trump’s involvement. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) has been particularly vocal about transparency surrounding Trump’s involvement in the sex trafficking cabal, and has been since the beginning. Massie, who played a major role in pushing forward Epstein Files Transparency Act, said, “Bombing a country on the other side of the globe won’t make the Epstein files go away.”

Over in the Senate, on March 11, 2025, four members of the chamber 一 Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) 一 called for an independent probe into the Department of Justice’s handling of the Epstein Files by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). They wrote, “This horrific scandal is one where powerful, wealthy men groomed, abused, and raped young women, men, and children. It is critical to understand what led to DOJ’s failure to redact the victims’ information and re-victimize those individuals while violating the Epstein Files Transparency Act in its redactions of information related to their alleged abusers.”

Despite what Donald Trump and his associates may feel and believe, Congress and the public have not and will not let his alleged connection Epsteingate be buried by the exact endless war aimed at regime change that he campaigned against.
