Trump’s New Attorney is a Legendary Hip-Hop Lawyer Who Hates the Former President

Drew Findling has represented Gucci Mane, Cardi B, and now Donald Trump

You’re about to get hit with some wild six degrees of separation. As the criminal investigation into Donald Trump’s involvement in illegally interfering in the 2020 election in Georgia ramps up, Vice headed down to Atlanta to profile the former president’s newest lawyer, Drew Findling.

The #BillionDollarLawyer as he calls himself is somewhat of a legendary lawyer in the hip-hop community, having represented rappers and athletes like Migos, Waka Flocka Flame, Shaq, and Cardi B. He even got a shout-out at Gucci Mane’s wedding. Findling’s latest Instagram pic features him in a white Moncler bubble coat in arms with EST Gee.

As noted in the Vice piece, the thing that separates Findling from your typical Trump layer isn’t just the fact that he’s been on stage at a DaBaby concert, but also that he’s not an idiot and is quite good at his job. Furthermore, Findling has been on record despising 45. For instance, he once pressed send on a Tweet that called him “the racist architect of fraudulent Trump University.” So why represent Trump, in a case where he’s guilty as hell? His professional moral convictions supersede his moral convictions. “Ethically, we as criminal defense attorneys have an obligation to represent anybody and everybody,” Findling said. Also, he’s probably interested in the check, that he might not even receive — Findling is the #BillionDollarLawyer after all.

Another interesting connection in Trump’s criminal case is Fulton County District Attorney, Fani Willis who is leading the case against Trump as well as the RICO Act case against Young Thug and YSL. Willis is the daughter of a Black Panther, and actually defended YSL’s co-founder, YSL Mondo in 2019 for an aggravated assault charge. Mondo told Rolling Stone he was shocked to find out his former lawyer was prosecuting his homies. “She’s almost like, not really street,” he said. “But she understands what goes on, bro.”
