9 Things That You Forgot Happened in 2020, Ranked

What a glorious, innocent time it was

9. ‘A Fall From Grace’

Tyler Perry’s opus was a wig tragedy in three acts. The straight-to-Netflix movie was filmed in, like, seven hours, resulting in facepalm-worthy bloopers and some of the greatest memes of 2020 B.C.

8–7. Super Bowl and NBA All-Star Weekend (tie)

Quick, who won the Super Bowl? How about the dunk contest? You can only remember the D. Wade GIF, huh? Exactly.

6. A full season of drama on ‘Insecure’

We laughed. We cried. We picked sides between Molly and Issa. We mocked and threatened a pregnant woman. What a time.

5. The threat of World War III

Less than 12 months ago, the United States assassinated Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, making us all think that we were headed to nuclear war. Then, days later, it was over, and we thought we’d dodged a bullet and 2020 would be juuuuuust fine.

4. Fiona Apple dropped a classic

Fetch the Bolt Cutter dropped in April, but we deadass forgot until it started popping up on year-end lists. (Also: Salute to anyone making year-end lists who can even remember what the hell came out in this flat circle timeline.)

3. Harriet Tubman graced a debit card

Speaking of salutes, OneUnited Bank released a debit card in February depicting legendary abolitionist Harriet Tubman in a pose that looks quite a bit like the iconic Wakandan gesture from Black Panther. Of course, the Black-owned bank responded to the instant backlash, insisting that the crossed arms represent “love” in sign language, but never quite explaining why the painted portrait resembles Skeletor.

2. Terry Crews became a whole clown

The year started with the actor making a damn fool of himself by throwing Gabrielle Union under the bus and tap-dancing for his America’s Got Talent overlords. We should’ve seen the trash coming.

1. Boneless Thugs-n-Harmony

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony didn’t even wait for April Fools’ Day to pull off this elaborate troll — a fake rebrand as Boneless Thugs-N-Harmony — as part of a marketing campaign for Buffalo Wild Wings. They made a whole-ass mini doc for this publicity stunt, leaving fans hoping the bag they walked away with contained way more than just subpar chicken meat.
