Exclusive: Watch Lamorne Morris Pitch the Scoop of the Century in Spider-Noir

The Emmy winner plays reporter Robbie Robertson in this stunning 1930s-set comic cult classic.

Lamorne Morris (Fargo, New Girl) is living a dream. The Emmy-winning actor had hoped to be a part of the visually stunning Spider-Noir when he heard Nicholas Cage signed on to play the live-action version of the character he voiced in the Miles Morales animated franchise.

When he auditioned for the role of investigative journalist Robbie Robertson he was well aware of the source material and was chomping at the bit to do the research around what trials a Black journalist would face in the segregated 1930s. He told the LA Times that he drew inspiration from pioneering Black newspaper man, Theodore Roosevelt Augustus Poston.

Poston was one of the first Black journalists to work at an all-white, big-city newspaper (New York Post). While there, he was able to bring home two prestigious journalism awards.

In this exclusive clip, Morris is pleading with a former employee as he’s working on a story that is “the biggest story in years. There hasn’t been anything this big since the Spider.”

Morris’ period-appropriate cadence and the passion he brings as a reporter chasing a unique scoop are spot on. Tap into Morris and co-star Cage on May 26. The series will stream in “Authentic Black & White” and “True-Hue Full Color” on Amazon Prime.
